Associate Vice President

Public Institutions | Government, Education and Non-Profit Advisory Practice Group

JLL is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Associate Vice President within our Public Institutions Advisory group. This position is available in San Diego, Chicago, Austin, Washington DC, Charlotte, Denver, or Atlanta. The ideal candidate will possess strong real estate and finance skills, with the ability to immediately support significant real estate consulting and transaction projects in the government and education sectors.

Jones Lang LaSalle's Public Institutions group (PI) provides a wide range of real estate services to public agencies and education institutions. We identify and implement strategies that allow organizations who serve others to fully leverage their real property in close alignment with their organizational missions. Our practice has grown rapidly over the past decade and is an industry leader in portfolio management and advisory, real estate strategy and providing complex development advisory services, with a specialty in public-private partnerships.

Having the track-record and know-how

In this role, you’ll need to have the industry experience required to manage client delivery and advisory. You’ll be expected to contribute as a key member of client facing teams to grow business, develop, implement and manage projects that vary greatly in subject and complexity. This work includes the following key responsibilities:

Market Growth and Client Management:

Actively manage existing client relationships and lead client engagementsIdentify areas for growth and leverage JLL's platform to deliver integrated service approachesLead teams in providing a wide range of real estate advisory services

Project Leadership and Execution:

Manage client delivery and advisory workCoordinate and oversee work performed by other JLL business units and third-party subcontractorsPrepare development opportunity solicitation and marketing documentsConduct highest and best use studies and land residual valuationsPerform comprehensive financial analysis, modeling, and development feasibility servicesReview and analyze legal documents, financial reports, and operating plansLead deal negotiations and transaction management

Business Development and Thought Leadership:

Proactively identify and pursue new business opportunities within the public sector and education markets, leveraging JLL's extensive network and resourcesDevelop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in government agencies, universities, K-12, and non-profit organizations through regular engagement, thought leadership, and high-quality service deliveryCreate and implement targeted business development strategies, including customized pitches, proposals, and presentations that address specific client needs and challengesOrganize and participate in industry events, conferences, and networking sessions to expand JLL's presence and identify potential leads and author thought leadership piecesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions and service offerings that differentiate JLL in the competitive public sector advisory landscapeUtilize market intelligence and data analytics to identify emerging trends and opportunities, positioning JLL as a forward-thinking partner for clientsEstablish and nurture long-term partnerships with clients by consistently delivering value, exceeding expectations, and providing strategic insights beyond individual transactions

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate, or related field; MBA/Master's in real estate preferred7+ years of experience in commercial real estate, real estate finance, or P3 advisoryProven leadership experience with complex real estate advisory assignmentsStrong critical thinking, analytical, and project management skillsInterest in and experience managing junior-level staffExcellent writing and financial modeling skillsExpertise in data visualization and ability to distill critical pointsProven ability to manage small to medium-sized projects and accountsStrong client relationship development skills through exceptional communication and delivery

Exceptional skill in translating complex data into clear, visually compelling presentations and reports, utilizing advanced data visualization techniques and tools to effectively communicate insights, trends, and recommendations to diverse audiences, including senior government officials and executive leadershipDemonstrated experience in federal government consulting, including familiarity with federal procurement processes, budgeting cycles, and regulatory requirementsTrack record of successfully navigating complex bureaucracies and building consensus among diverse stakeholders in government settingsExperience in mentoring and developing junior staff, with a focus on fostering their professional growth and enhancing their technical skillsStrong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate teams, delegate effectively, and provide constructive feedbackCommitment to creating a collaborative and inclusive team environment that encourages innovation and continuous learningAbility to identify and nurture talent within the team, supporting career progression and retention of high-performing individualsDynamic work ethic and entrepreneurial spiritWillingness to travel up to 25-35% of the time

Estimated total compensation for this position:

133,000.00 – 154,000.00 USD per year

The total compensation range is an estimate and not guaranteed. An employment offer is based on an applicant's education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity and alignment with market data .
