Job Description
Based on the merit shop philosophy, we help our members develop people, win work, and deliver work safely, ethically, and profitably for the betterment of the communities in which they work. Seeking a motivated and experienced sales and membership professional with a strong customer service orientation to drive and implement the association's membership growth and retention strategies. This person will report to the President/CEO and work closely with them to develop successful membership retention and growth strategies, including budget planning for the chapter.
Responsibilities
+ Achieve new member growth goals.
+ Recruit new members through prospect sales meetings, pipeline management, and prospect database management.
+ Respond to prospect and current member requests for information and services.
+ Attend industry and chapter networking events to promote the company.
+ Work closely with the Membership Council and Board of Directors to establish or maintain member service programs, develop member prospect lists, and support the accomplishment of committee goals.
+ Travel within the Iowa Chapter’s geographical boundaries to meet and recruit new members.
+ Execute new member integration plans to help new members engage with company in the first year to 18 months of membership.
+ Retain current chapter members at a rate that, in conjunction with recruitment and sales, results in net membership growth.
+ Travel within the Iowa Chapter’s geographical boundaries to meet with current members.
+ Work with the Board of Directors in developing strategies and implementing procedures to promote the membership retention campaign.
+ Promote all chapter and National services, including but not limited to the apprentice program, training programs, OSHA Alliance, STEP program, and insurance programs.
+ Develop appropriate member services and non-dues revenue opportunities in accordance with member needs as determined by committees and the board.
+ Serve as staff liaison to the Membership Council and other committees designated by the President and CEO.
+ Serve as staff liaison between the Chapter and non-dues revenue partners.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 5+ years of related experience in sales, association or non-profit business development, marketing, or communications.
+ Understanding of the construction industry.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Technologically proficient with advanced skills in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, Canva, and related business and communication tools.
+ Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment.
+ Strong project management and organizational skills.
+ Excellent customer service skills.
+ Outgoing, personable, and comfortable speaking to C-suite executives and craft employees.
+ Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize competing priorities.
+ Continuous learner and willingness to learn new skills.
Work Environment
Work hours are from 8am to 5pm. Additional earnings include commission and bonuses up to $25,000 annually. The position offers competitive benefits such as paid time off, health insurance, 401(k), Section 125 plan, vehicle, and cell phone. Travel is required, with 50% of the time spent visiting members across Iowa in major cities including Council Bluffs, Fort Dodge, Waterloo, Quad Cities, and Dubuque. Car and travel expenses will be covered.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $39.00/hr.
