Job Summary\:

The Institute on Disabilities (IOD) is seeking an Assistant Director of Communication and Dissemination to lead their dissemination team. The Institute on Disabilities is Pennsylvania’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service. IOD is a unit within the College of Education and Human Development at Temple University. The professional in this position will support the many activities of the Institute and dozens of projects and programs. They will work closely with other members of the Dissemination team, including 2 fulltime IOD employees along with many outside vendors.  This position reports to the Institute’s Director of Finance and Administration.

This position involves creating and managing accessible content for print and electronic communications, coordinating digital media campaigns, and analyzing their effectiveness. This position ensures consistent branding and messaging, collaborates with the College and University marketing teams and IT department, program leads, and assists in public relations efforts. Additionally, the role includes managing project timelines and supporting event planning.  This dynamic position requires creativity, organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to enhance the Institute’s communications and outreach efforts.

Required Education & Experience\:

Bachelor's degree English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations and at least three years of directly related communication/dissemination experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Preferred\:

Marketing experience in higher education setting. 

Required Skills & Abilities\:

Demonstrated effectiveness supporting principles of equal opportunity, diversity, equity, and inclusion, including experience supporting staff and community members with varying identities and backgrounds.  Demonstrated understanding of content strategy and UX design. Demonstrated knowledge of market research and analysis, surveys, and data analytics.

Preferred\:

Proficiency in writing for a variety of audiences.  Previous work in web content management systems. Experience with project management software.  Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop, InDesign and Microsoft Office 365. Experience creating and managing targeted email campaigns, particularly with MailChimp and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. Experience developing a communications plan or strategy.  Proven ability to manage multiple and simultaneous projects and activities, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Creative, innovative thinker with a passion for storytelling and building relationships.  Strong interpersonal skills enabling one to work both independently and collaboratively and to build consensus with diverse groups of people.  Ability to function as a self-starter and work without close supervision.
