Job Overview

The Assistant Director of International Strategic Partnerships will work closely with the Executive Director of International Strategic Partnerships within UC International. UC International is the university-wide unit, within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost, for serving international students and scholars, education abroad students, as well as the development of the university's international strategic planning.

In 2012, UC International Planning created seven global strategy groups, comprised of more than 100 faculty, staff, and community representatives. These strategy groups work to identify strategic institutional partners in each region of the world. Our strategic partners are universities of comparable breadth and stature or are developing institutions with which we can have a mutually beneficial mentoring relationship. Strategic Partnerships engage in robust and sustainable collaborations which benefit students, faculty, and staff. These collaborations range from academic, research, and mobility cooperations to unique mentoring and joint programming models.

The Assistant Director will work in collaboration with the Executive Director to support the development and management of international strategic partnerships and their related activities.

The Assistant Director position is a three (3) year appointment with the possibility of reappointment based on continued funding and satisfactory performance.

This position will have the option of a hybrid work schedule (2 days in the office/3 days work from home) for those with a residence within OH/IN/KY following 90 days of training. Residence must be in the tri-state area within reasonable distance to UC Main Campus to have ability to report to campus as required. Remote work arrangements are subject to change in accordance with university policies.

Essential Functions Assist with the direction of UC International Strategic Partnerships; cultivate and maintain relationships with external and internal partners to develop and strengthen strategic collaborations. Manage the UC International Strategic Partner grant programs: Send call for proposals to UC faculty and international partner faculty, manage the proposal review process, organize and track incoming and outgoing international travel, manage grant funds. Assist the Director with organization and facilitation of seven regional strategy groups (Americas, Europe, Asia Pacific, China, Indian Subcontinent, Middle East/North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa). Manage the special programs (approx. 1-2 per year) for students/faculty/staff with our Strategic Partners. Manage the MoveON agreement database and assist director with agreement and contract preparation. Assist the Director with hosting international delegations. Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Bachelor’s Degree. Required Experience Three (3) years of experience working in international education or 7 years of experience working in a project/program management role. Additional Qualifications Considered Demonstrated ability to interact with faculty, students, administrators, and others in a highly professional manner. Strong organizational skills. Motivated, proactive, detail-oriented and ability to work independently in the completion of job duties. Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills. Experience living, working, or studying abroad. Strong computer skills to navigate required university and software systems and standard suite of office software, primarily MS Office with strong navigation of MS Excel. UC experience and knowledge of UC Colleges, departments, and programs. Experience and knowledge of best practices in international higher education. Master’s degree preferred. Application Process
