Job Summary\:

The Finance Team in the College of Education and Human Development is housed in the office of the Dean.  The Asst Dean of Finance and Administration has direct oversight of this team.  The Finance Team is responsible for all aspects of Finance and Administration, including all grants management and operation funds.  The Finance Team also acts as HR liaison between the college and central HR and serves as the direct point of contact for all CEHD HR related matters. 

The Assistant Director of Research Administration will work closely with the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration for the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD).  The incumbent will primarily take the lead, handle the day-to-day pre, and post award operations related to a portfolio of sponsored research.  The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and monitoring external funded grants and contracts involving all pre-award activities, including compliance with granting agencies and university policies. Serve as the primary liaison to faculty on the pre-award process, and related policies and procedures, developing budgets for pre-award submissions, maintaining the College grant databases, providing ad-hoc and regular post award financial reports and projections to faculty and administrators, and other grant management duties as assigned.  The position requires a strong customer services orientation and the incumbent must possess the ability to interpret and apply University, College and sponsor policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience\:

Bachelor’s Degree and at least four or more years of directly related administrative and grant management experience.  An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

 

Preferred

Previous experience working in Higher Education and Research Administration.  Previous Experience working with grants Pre/Post Awards.

Required Skills & Abilities\:

Demonstrates pro-active demeanor, takes initiative and the displays ability to work autonomously in completing an extensive portfolio of responsibilities.  Ability to multi-task and work well in a demanding deadline-driven environment. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to follow up frequently and as needed  Strong analytical, solution driven skills and ability to problem solve complex issues  Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of diverse funding policies and guidelines for sponsored research programs offered through federal, private, and university sources. Demonstrated ability to remain up to date with constantly changing submission, contract and compliance requirement. Demonstrated working knowledge of all applicable computer software programs, including Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Research Administration systems. Proficient presentation, verbal and written communication skills  Ability to collaborate with multiple partners and navigate varying interests Demonstrate project management and team management skills Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, administrators, students and external sponsors.
