Asst Nurse Manager - Emergency Department

Emergency Department Unit:

The Emergency Department has 46 treatment spaces including 32 monitored treatment spaces, seven dedicated to an internal Crisis Stabilization Unit, and four dedicated to a Behavioral Health.

Services provided but are not limited to: Evaluation and stabilization of acute/ urgent/emergent medical conditions as well as trauma, and chronic conditions. The ED also services the needs of our mental health population, acute crisis stabilization, sexual assault victims, extensive cardiac, neurologic, orthopedic, and dental.

Position Summary: Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department Assistant Nurse Manager

The Registered Nurse (RN) Assistant Nurse Manager, in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, plans, organizes, directs and actively participates in the nursing care of patients, works with the multi-disciplinary team to manage the day-to-day operations of the service. This includes problem solving, coordination of assignments and patient placement, staffing, CI activities, facilitation of staff competency, validation and performance monitoring. The Assistant Nurse Manager acts as a role model and a mentor to staff.

Responsibilities for Registered Nurse (RN) ANM - Emergency Department:

Provides direct patient care, delegates/assigns responsibility as appropriate to others, and serves as leader of the interdisciplinary team in collaboration with and under the direction of the attending physician. Focuses on completion of the nursing process including patient/family education and discharge planning. Understands and acts appropriately to ensure optimum use of all resources.

Education/Experience for Registered Nurse (RN) ANM - Emergency Department:

Graduation from a Registered Professional Nursing program 3 years relevant clinical experience required 5 years clinical experience preferred Previous nursing management experience preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required

Licenses/Certificates/Registrations ANM - Emergency Department:

Current license and registration to practice Registered Professional Nursing in New York State Current BLS certification Current ACLS and PALS certifications if required for service Certification of specialty organization preferred
