Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ **Responsibilities:** Provides technical supervision of a section or unit of laboratory operation involving patient care functions affecting the well being, comfort and safety of patients. Under close direction of the section Technical Manager and/or Laboratory Medical Director, and under general direction of the Laboratory Technical Supervisor, the Laboratory Assistant Supervisor is responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the lab section or unit(s) to assure prompt reporting of laboratory results. Additionally, they will assure that instrumentation, equipment and supplies are kept in good working order and enforce laboratory policy in relation to: standardized methods of assay, quality, schedules, safety, professional conduct, evaluation and reporting of laboratory results, preventive maintenance procedures and records, and laboratory housekeeping. This position requires latitude for independence. With direction from leadership, will follow all appropriate regulatory requirements and coordinate with all entities (internal and external) to provide the highest level of testing. As a core member of the technical staff, this position will perform all duties of a Medical Technologist as needed and will adhere to all hospital and laboratory policies. Communicates with internal and external clients clearly and professionally. RESPONSIBILITIES: Operations + Supports daily operations of lab to ensure timely service, productivity and efficiency. + Supports the evaluation of new instrumentation and products. Provides proper instruction and training in laboratory procedures included within their section or units of operation. Administrative + Adheres to staffing and human resources policies and manages personnel performance. Fosters teamwork; evaluates, counsels and mentors, and provides constructive feedback for staff. + Is aware/manages area specific financials; appropriate utilization of assets and resources. + Assist in the assignment scheduling of personnel + Provides input into the hiring and performance evaluations/competency checks of technologists, technicians, and other personnel (students, residents┐.) + May perform the role of technical supervisor Technical + Performs the duties of a Medical Technologist Process Improvement and Quality + Develops and implements process improvements; encourages LEAN practice and timely solutions. When appropriate, oversees final review of laboratory reports prior to release to the physician, or for inclusion in permanent medical records. + Maintains regulatory compliance in line with NYSDOH and CAP standards. Education and Training + Assists in the training and instruction of laboratory policies and procedures. Participates in continuing education; Keep abreast of new developments in Clinical Laboratory Science.
