The Toppel Career Center’s mission is to empower and connect students to achieve a lifetime of career fulfillment. The Assistant Director of Career Engagement will work with the Toppel Career Center to provide career and professional development-related activities and programs for University of Miami students. This position is responsible for expanding student access to career education through innovative and engaging ways. Additionally, this role will lead pre-law career coaching at the University of Miami. Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Career Readiness, the Assistant Director will continue the center’s efforts to build meaningful relationships with key liaison relationships across campus between student affairs, academic affairs, and the Toppel Career Center.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Career Engagement:
Execute strategy created by Director of Career Education and Associate Director of Career Readiness to engage more students in career education services and resources, specifically those who have not yet sought out career servicesCollaborate with departments including the Office of Academic Enhancement, LGBTQ+ Center, the Office of Disability Services, Multicultural Student Affairs, and others to expand access to target student groups; collaborations may involve creating new programs/events, sharing information, and ensuring Toppel’s resources support studentsConnect and regularly meet with relevant student organizations to share career resources and information with their members and learn about their needsServe on the workgroup responsible for planning and executing the annual ToppelFest event targeting incoming studentsPlan Toppel Tuesday “pop-up” events on a yearly basis to promote Toppel resources and servicesCollaborate with campus partners to coordinate locations and with the Employer Engagement team to secure employer sponsorships for Toppel TuesdayOversee professional clothing resources for students by managing relationships with partner vendors and marketing events and opportunities to studentsAssist Associate Director with maintaining the custom career content (uConnect) site to support students and alumni with career-focused advice and resources through regularly updating contentServe as the lead for Pre-Law & Social Sciences Career Coaching at the Toppel Career Center and maintain relationships with law schools and pre-law organizationsPlan pre-law events for students to provide them important information about the application and admission processRegularly train career coaches on pre-law information to help support this student populationSALARY:

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provide one-on-one career coaching to support students and alumni in exploring skills and interests, identifying values and goals and how they relate to career paths, the graduate school application process, identifying resources within an industry or area of interest, and searching for jobs and internshipsDevelop collaborative relationships with academic and non-academic departments within the University with the goal of improving career opportunities and resources for undergraduate and graduate studentsProvide outreach to faculty, student organizations, and alumni through presentations and classroom & community outreachServe as liaison to academic schools/colleges and other departments as established with the Director of Career EducationAssist in the department’s student assessment measures, including needs assessments and satisfaction surveys with the assistance of the Director, Communication and AssessmentStaff events during some evening and weekend hoursParticipate in weekly meetings with team membersPerform other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES (KSA):

Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Master’s degree preferred.WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
At least two years of appropriate experience preferred. An appropriate combination of relevant education, certifications, and/or work experience may be considered.
