The University of Nevada, Reno Athletics Department is recruiting for a Certified Athletic Trainer within the Sports Medicine team. Sports Medicine personnel are responsible for performing duties of first aid, prevention, evaluation, management, rehabilitation and appropriate referrals of athletic injuries and illnesses sustained by Men’s and Women’s Division I student athletes.

Incumbents provide preventative care and coverage for scheduled practices and events for assigned sports teams to include triage, treatment and to maintain a safe environment for staff and student-athletes. Incumbents, are additionally responsible for administrative functions such as electronic medical records, coordinating summer camps and required medical coverage, assisting with the operation of the University’s main and satellite athletic training facilities, administering drug testing, managing insurance and injury tracking programs, pre-participation physicals and maintain supplies and equipment. Positions mentor graduate and undergraduate athletic training students. Incumbents support nutrition and mental health programming for student athletes. Position(s) report to the Assistant AD, Sports Medicine.

Required Qualifications

Master’s Degree and one year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree and two years of related work experience.

Related Experience: Managing or assisting with management of athletic training/sports medicine facilities with men’s or women’s sports programs or related experience.

Certification and Licensure

Certification by National Athletic Trainers’ Association as administered by the NATA Board of Certification (NATABOC)

First aid and CPR certification

Maintain continuing education units as required by the NATABOC

Must be licensed in the State of Nevada or within the first 6 months of hire
