Summary:

The Certified Athletic Trainer functions as an integral part of the Virtua Sports Medicine team and will serve as an extension of the Virtua system in a community setting.

The Certified Athletic Trainer will be charged with coordinating care of the athlete by acting as the first responder, triaging appropriately and providing follow up care as directed by the supervising physician.

The Certified Athletic Trainer will develop and expand the relationship of Virtua to the community organizations, clubs and events held at Total Turf Experience to further promote the Sports Medicine Program, its physicians and adjacent Virtua service lines.

Position Responsibilities:

Clinical

• The certified athletic trainer will perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, first aide treatment as set forth by the NATA Board of Certification.

• Refer athletes for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking.

• Assist in obtaining medical care appropriate for injury.

• Order, maintain and inventory supplies and clinical equipment.

Community Programs/Education

• The certified athletic trainer will develop and implement quarterly, and PRN workshops/seminars on relevant sports medicine topics.

• Certified Athletic trainer will promote injury prevention through handouts, lectures, weekly sport tips.

Program Development

• Develop relationships within community to promote Virtua Sports Medicine and its related services resulting in increased referrals to the Washington Twp. Wellness Center services and other Virtua services.

• Work directly with leaders to identify objectives related to communication and program development strategies at Total Turf Experience.

Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:

Minimum of (3) years athletic training experience in a sports environment.

Required Education:

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in health related field.

Training/Certifications/Licensure:

Must have fulfilled all requirements of the NATA Board of Certification Inc. exam and state licensure or regulation as determined by the State of New Jersey.

CPR Certification.
