What You Will Do:
Provides first aid treatment for participants of sporting events supported by Firelands; treats or refers injuries to the Physical Therapy Department at Firelands Regional Medical Center. Develops and maintains a program of preventive physical care for athletic teams; furnishes safety equipment and supplies applicable to the respective sports. Maintains liaison between the athletes and the Physical Therapy Department at Firelands, in arranging physical examinations and in coordinating and conducting post injury rehabilitation for athletes; complies and maintains statistical records of team injuries for the Lead Athletic Trainer and/or Director. Assist and advise athletic team coaches in planning and instructing physical training programs for athletes. Instructs, supervises and reviews the performance of student trainers. Studies, evaluates, and recommends new techniques and equipment in physical training and physical therapy. Completes all required paperwork to ensure that documentation reflects care provided and the outcomes achieved as evidenced by the clinical record. Displays positive customer relations in performance of duties. Regularly demonstrates the ability to serve patients of all ages in the routine performance of duties.What You Will Need:
National Athletic Trainers Association certification is required. Work requires knowledge of the general principles of preventive physical care for athletes, first aid treatment and referral, and post injury rehabilitation normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Medicine or other related Athletic Trainer program. Demonstrated ability to keep abreast of new research and practices in the field so as to provide the patients the best possible care and treatment. Current CPR certification. Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request. Ability to lift an average size patient and be mobile. Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period
