Athletic Trainer - Outreach Per Diem

TRIA is looking to hire an Athletic Trainer to join our Sports Medicine Outreach team!  Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day. 

Position Summary:

The Athletic Trainer (AT) is a healthcare professional who collaborates with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients across age and care continuums. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate emergency care, treatment and rehabilitation of acute and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities. Athletic Trainers work under the direction of physicians as prescribed by the MN Board of Medical Practice.

The TRIA Athletic Trainer will utilize broad-based skills in patient care, ancillary services, and business office practices, aids providers in accordance with PNHS standard and policies.

The Athletic Trainer will represent TRIA Orthopedic Center Sports Medicine Program by providing athletic training services at games and events as signed up for and directed by the sports medicine program manager where TRIA is designated as the medical provider. Will represent self and TRIA based on the TRIA Employee Traits and will maintain a positive attitude and the highest level of professionalism across all duties.

Work Schedule:

per diem - Days with some nights/weekends.

Required Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Bachelor’s Degree required.  Licensure/ Registration/ Certification: Current BOC Certified Athletic Trainer required.  Current licensure with the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice required.  Must have valid driver’s license and meet the insurability requirement relating to Park Nicollet’s motor vehicle violation criteria. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong clinical and human relations skills are required.  Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing and maintain standards of clinical skills and professional ethics as established by the NATA and BOC.  Basic computer/keyboarding/mouse skills required.  Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and ensure safety of patients.  Can make autonomous decisions about patient care related issues and be able to make independent decisions based on scope of practice and protocols established with their physician. Excellent interpersonal, listening, critical thinking and organizational skills.  Team player that collaborates to achieve highest outcomes. Proficient use of athletic training apparatus related to area of expertise.  Safely and effectively operate the following: Various Health Testing Equipment (depending upon specialty area), Personal Computer, Photocopier, Printer, FAX Machine, and Telephone. Proficient in work processing, electronic medical records, PACS (radiology software), ECG, dynamap, defibrillator, and various orthopedic equipment/braces/splinting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education, Experience or Equivalent Combination: Master’s degree preferred.  1 year of Certified Athletic Training experience preferred.
