In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Athletic Trainer is responsible for evaluating patients, establishing treatment plans, and administering medically prescribed athletic training to restore function following disease, injury or disability. Location of work includes indoor and outdoor environments with variable work shifts. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Functions:

Performs initial athletic training evaluations. Demonstrates clinical competence by independent use, precautions, and safety in various treatments. Demonstrates competence in various exercises/testing modalities. Demonstrates an ability to teach patients. Completes documentation in an appropriate manner. Assists in the day-to-day operations of the clinic: Scheduling patient appointments/rooming patients/taking vitals/test scheduling/insurance precertification/inputting orders/electronic medical documentation/daily correspondence with other departments/tracking patient referrals/ordering medical supplies. Working directly with the Physician, assisting with Physician-performed procedures. Provide nutrition and exercise education and counseling. Brace fitting. Provides athletic training services to contracted high schools on a PRN basis. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
