Athletic Trainer - Sports Medicine

Major Responsibilities:

A. Clinical Support/Health Outcomes: Provide support in delivery of quality clinical care.Handles patient flow, including the preparing of rooms and patients and other duties assigned as identified by Advocate Medical Group physician office standards protocol.During the visit measures and records accurately: blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, records reason for visit as appropriateDemonstrates the ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as set forth by the NATA Board of certificationProvides patient education and discharge instructions including the demonstration of a prescribed home exercise program.Performs various tests/procedures independently as prescribed by the physician in accordance with certification and scope of care. Demonstrates proper taping, strapping, bracing, and fitting of athletic equipment. Management of concussion patients utilizing ImPACT testing. Under the provisions of the Illinois Athletic Trainer's Practice Act, they shall maintain an ethical and professional medical environment consistent with the standards of care established by the National Athletic Trainers Association and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and Advocate Medical Group.Performs other duties as assigned.PATIENT SATISFACTION AND SERVICE: Provides efficient high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments, who telephone, visit in person, or at school. Fosters a pleasant and professional environment, in person and over the phone, utilizing prescribed scripting and telephone standards.Follows through on actions, takes ownership of job responsibilities, and practices Service Recovery where identifiedAttends to waiting patients in reception area and ensures that they are seen in a timely manner, and promptly informed of any delay, updating every 15 minutesConsistently provides a warm, sincere greeting when dealing with patients over the phone, in person, and introduces themselves and their role with the patients. Smiles and maintains positive eye contact when dealing with internal and external customers.Completed all required customer service training and compliance with scripting initiatives.Participates in activities to evaluate and improve processes that will contribute to patient and associate satisfactionTreats patients, families and associates with respect and incorporates cultural differences into interactions/careIn collaboration with team, meets or exceeds established patient satisfaction targetsCreates and maintains an environment that is patient centered as evidenced by availability of same day appointments, future appointments made, referrals made within the group, adherence to test result reporting guidelines, positive patient comments, and high satisfaction scoresConsistently demonstrates sincere concern and empathy in interactions with patientsLEADERSHIP AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Demonstrates leadership in day to day activities.Displays problem-solving, decision-making, decision sharing and conflict resolution to support team outcomes.Assists in the implementation of center/organizational initiativesEstablishes and maintains rapport with patients, families, co-workers, and other associates.Seeks opportunities to further education and enhance leadership skillsMaintains NATA certification and CPR certificationCollaborates with physician in planning and/or implementing new processesFUNDING OUR FUTURE: demonstrates an understanding of the business process.Understands order completion and documentation for appropriate charge capture and risk reductionWorks with physician and billing department to accurately code and capture chargeMaintains inventory par levels using standard products and paying attention to waste.Promotes a green environment by adhering to organizational guidelines for recycling and prudent utilization of resourcesUtilizes organizational resources in a responsible/cost effective manner.


Licensure:

Athletic Trainer


Education/Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in related field.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Good communication skills. Computer skills. Interpersonal skills. Time Management skills. Team oriented.-CPR certification-NATA (National Athletic Trainers Association) certification-State of Illinois Athletic Training License


Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:

-Team-oriented -Ability to travel to outreach clinics -Ability to work under stressful conditions and difficult situations -Ability to work varying shifts by day of the week to meet needs of the center -This position can recognize needs and behaviors of a variety of patient age groups; i.e. understand child growth and development, normal pattern of adolescent behavior and looks for normal signs of aging.If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
