The Athletics Department has a great opportunity for an Athletics Systems Administrator to work at the Coral Gables Campus.
The Systems Administrator will maintain and administer computer networks and equipment to ensure optimal performance and fast recovery to emergency situations.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):Maintains and administers computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurationsPerforms data backups and disaster recovery operationsDiagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves hardware, software, or other network and system problems. Replaces defective components when necessaryPlans, coordinates, and implements network security measures to protect data, software, and hardwareConfigures, monitors, and maintains email applications or virus protection softwareOperates master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and useLoads computer tapes and disks, and install software and printer paper or formsDesigns, configures, and tests computer hardware, networking software and operating system softwareMonitors network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the futureConfers with network users about how to solve existing system problems.Other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate well with othersAbility to work independently or as a member of a teamAbility to do troubleshooting, systems testing and system analysisSolid computer skillsknowledge of Windows server operating systems (Windows Server 2000,2003,2008)Understanding of virtual environmentsEducation Requirements (Essential Requirements):BS or BA degree in computer science, business administration, or related field requiredMasters Preferred Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):Three plus years of work related experienceDepartment AddendumEngineer and architect new communications networks for Broadcast, Events, Game Operations and Football departments.Security gatekeeper for newly requested implementations of external products and services.Engineer audio and video data paths for Production Services department.Serve as backup engineer / SME during live production broadcast in case of emergencies.Maintain and upgrade Football department’s XOS network and servers.Maintain and implement new technologies for tennis, volleyball, basketball, baseball, and football events.Maintain Sports Psychology’s inhibited driving simulator system.Administer Athletics Isilon server shares and provide / remove access as requested.Manage Security groups for Athletics Central Server shares.Administer Sports Science web serverAdminister Baseball Analytics database serverProject Management of large-scale upgrades to Athletics IT and broadcast infrastructureLiaison to UMIT for Academy demands related to AthleticsGameday and event operation supportEngineer and implement replay solutions for Volleyball, Basketball, and BaseballSetup and maintain Kiloview streaming service for Communications departmentAdminister and manage departmental email groups and distribution list.The University of Miami offers competitive salaries and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.
