Atlas seeks to address the risks and needs of individuals released on their own recognizance citywide who are at heightened risk of future victimization or justice system involvement. Rising Ground seeks a driven and inspired Credible Messenger. Reporting to the FFCM Supervisor and Senior Case Manager, the Credible Messenger will work within communities to build relationships with people at the center of violence and leverage these relationships to de-escalate violence, encourage growth and connect people to Atlas Functional Family Therapy and other resources that facilitate transformation.
Responsibilities Manage between 10-20 relationships.Credible Messengers are to interact with 5 to 10 participants 3 days per week through 1 on 1 conversations about participants' challenges, progress and needs.Interact with 5 to 10 prospects 2 days per week. Within those interactions there should be 1 on 1 conversations about prospects’ challenges, needs, and opportunities.Host Breaking Bread meetings with individuals and groups throughout the month, this will be done at least once a week.Interactions with both participants and prospects may involve situations where Credible Messengers may have to meet basic, emergency and safety needs.Meet with high-risk individuals and groups on a daily basis to discuss issues.Keep a daily log documenting all contacts with high-risk individuals.Develop relationships with influential individuals and groups in the community.Refer potential participants to FFCM Interventionists OR FFT Therapists.Participate in all required trainings.Distribute public education materials within the community.Attend community responses as needed.Actively participate as part of the FFCM team, including attending weekly team consultation, group and individual supervision meetings. Qualifications High School Diploma/GEDAbility to assist & conduct conflict mediation services.Experience working with at-risk youth and gang members.Excellent communication skills.Experience or training in crisis intervention.Knowledge of target area.Willingness and ability to be strengths-focused.Willingness to advocate for youth and family, belief in the capacity of people to grow and change.Ability to manage stress and self-care.Appreciation, respect, and understanding for teamwork and company culture.Ability to maintain a high level of self-awareness.Ability to be comfortable with cultural differences; to relate without patronizing.Willingness to commit to empowering families to solve their own problems.Ability and willingness to work with families in their homes.Willingness to be flexible to work with the individuals when they are available to meet.Hybrid
