Right now we’re looking for an Attendance Support and Abilities Consultant to work in our Occupational Health & Safety department. This person will support the portfolio in its mandate to provide occupational health and safety services, attendance support and abilities services and healthy workplace programming services for all staff, physicians and volunteers.  

  

 

Reporting Relationship: Director of Occupational Health & Safety

Employee Group: Non Union 
Location: Wilson Site  - ON SITE

 

Position Responsibilities: 

Responsible for  administering all  WSIB claims.Decide on STD/LTD/WSIB case actions in collaboration with identified stakeholders including employees, managers, other Occupational Health and Safety team members, HRWorks with other Occupational Health and Safety team members in managing WSIB claims (including appeals) and return to work activities.Utilizes the existing claims documentation system (Parklane) to track claims management activities, identify required follow up and communication and generate statistical information to assist in identifying trends and support opportunities.Plan, develop and facilitate return to work programs and processes.Provide support, guidance and timely information relating to the attendance support and abilities program to all applicable stakeholders.Administration and delivery of attendance support and abilities program including information gathering, adjudication of short term disability cases, timely communication, efficient file management, and flexibility in decision making.Responsible for administering all Short Term Disability (STD) claims.Refer cases for LTD benefit consideration and coordinate/assist with occupational and non occupational return to work cases, WSIB case management, and related communication.Assesses functional abilities in conjunction with applicable treating healthcare practitioner(s), employee, manager, Occupational Health & Safety and Human Resources as applicable. Assist in the development and delivery of education for managers, employees and any other identified stakeholders.Work in conjunction with identified stakeholders (e.g. managers, HR) on attendance support program mattersProvide feedback regarding case workload, process efficiency and customer service, unions, insurers and any other applicable stakeholderEscalate complex or contentious cases to DirectorRecommendations and review of third party independent medical assessment services and reporting processesGives input to Director on program quality improvements based on gap analysis and trending informationComprehensive knowledge of human resources practices and processes, collective agreements, and legislation specific to WSIB, OHSA, Human Rights Code, Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Employment Standards Act, Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Act

 

Qualifications:

Undergraduate degree in a health related field requiredCertified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) specialist requiredNational Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR) or equivalent membership in good standing preferredRegulated health professional association (e.g. Nursing, Kinesiology, Physiotherapy) membership in good standing requiredMinimum of 5 years of Short Term Disability and WSIB experience requiredExperience in a healthcare unionized environment preferredExcellent knowledge of MS Office (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Parklane software required
