The Law Department provides legal advice and counsel to all of NYPA’s business and functional areas and seeks to fill the position of Attorney II. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel for the Contracts, Licensing and Environmental group, the ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience practicing law having fully developed legal research, drafting and communication skills to support senior counsel on a variety of matters, primarily transactional and regulatory compliance. Flexibility to engage on a variety of manners with an eagerness to learn and grow as an Attorney supporting the utility industry will be favorably considered.
In this Attorney II role you will have opportunities to and be expected to coordinate with internal stakeholders. You will also collaborate among the your colleagues in the Law Department to promote consistency in contract terms and to improve NYPA’s transactional processes and champion the use of technology to achieve efficiencies in a collaborative environment. You will also provide legal support to ensure our compliance with applicable rules and regulations governing NYPA, including but not limited to technical-regulatory requirements, standards and laws related to electric utility operations. You will have opportunities to develop expertise on NERC Reliability Standards and provide legal assistance with regulatory reporting, compliance assessments, internal investigations, and audit preparations. Up to 25% travel primarily within NY State

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates’ relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
