Description We are in search of an Attorney/Lawyer to join our team in Washington, District of Columbia. The role primarily involves providing legal advice and administrative support to families at risk of permanent separation, with a focus on matters related to the District of Columbia’s Child Protective Services. This position does not involve litigation at this time but may evolve to include family law court hearings in the future. Responsibilities: • Provide legal advocacy in areas that aim to preserve families at risk of permanent separation. • Assist senior attorneys in early phases of involvement with District of Columbia’s Child Protective Services. • Offer advice and support to families facing adverse administrative decisions. • Handle heavy administrative tasks efficiently. • Assist in representation for appeals for removal from the Child Protection Register. • Work alongside a seasoned paralegal to ensure efficient processing of cases. • Contribute to a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment. • Provide legal counseling to families and ensure their rights are protected. • May assist with third party custody matters in the future. • Potentially represent families in court hearings in the future. Employees may work from home 2 days a week. Skills: • Proficient in Civil Litigation and Family Law. • Experience in Moot Court. • Knowledge of Civil Procedure. • Ability to Argue Motions and Draft Motions. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Requirements • Must hold a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school • Admission to the state bar is required • Knowledge and experience in Civil Litigation, Moot Court, Family Law, Civil Procedure, Arguing Motions, and Draft Motions is highly desirable • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines • High level of professionalism and confidentiality • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team • Must be comfortable using legal research platforms and other relevant software • No minimum years of experience required; however, prior experience in a similar role is an advantage • Willingness to continually update knowledge on new laws and legal practices • Must possess strong negotiation and client management skills Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
