In this position... 
Ford Motor Company has an immediate opening for a strong Audio Component Design and Release Engineer tasked with working with architecture, strategy, and audio teams on system designs for various programs, with a focus on a common system approach. 

You'll have... 
BS Engineering degree or similar.
5+ years of direct experience with automotive electronics.
3 years of experience working with Audio components or electronic modules.

Even better, you may have...
MS Engineering degree or similar.

What you'll do…

Contribute to system design approach for IVI systems

Work with architecture, strategy, and audio teams on system designs for various programs. Focus on common system approach.  Understand interfaces for all IVI components for all Generation architectures. Requires understanding of audio system vehicle message lists based on architecture. Aids in diagnosing issues across multiple audio components. Aids in bench testing and set ups for different audio strategies. Read across for multiple programs for issues identified on one. 

Support sign-off of system schematics for entire IVI system

Work with D&R and vehicle systems team on verifying CAN and A2B hardware interfaces.  Down to pin for pin compatibility.  Define any additional interfaces needed for testing down the line. 

Chime & Sound Quality assessments of vehicles

Work with Audio Strategy, Acoustic and Applications teams on sign off process for Base and Branded audio performance (In house EQ’s). Responsible for system level audio/acoustic requirements. Trim, metal, NVH, other interfaces, sealing, transparency, air volume.  Oversee package requirements for components in high-risk areas (water leaks, heat management, air sealing) in I/P’s, door trim, rear quarter, etc.  System approach for chimes actuation in support of regulations.  Follow communication between IPC, Radio/Riley, amplifier and sign off on process flow and help determine where failures are (if any). Aid in vehicle allocation for audio tunings.

Contribute to system level issue investigations

Majority of audio related issues have several IVI modules that are potentially at fault.  Help to identify issue, gather the necessary data (CAN, A2B logs) and review with affected teams to highlight concerns and determine root cause. Ability to read and decipher CAN, A2B and DEV logs. Lead all JIRA’s and update as necessary, with assessments and P ratings.  Leverage software and hardware resources to aid in resolution of issues. 

System Quality/Warranty 

System and sub-system approach to quality documents (Quality History, DFMEA, P-Diagrams, Boundary Diagrams, SCCAFs). Work with component teams to specify vehicle/system interfaces and noise factors.  Aid in triaging audio warranty issues and help determine root cause for IVI system/components. Drive lessons learned into new designs/systems.
