This role is hands-on and oversees all audio needs including advancing event audio and backline needs, temporary equipment tie-in, engineering monitors or front-of-house or coordinating with visiting engineers, systems operation and maintenance, advising on equipment purchases, as well as assisting in projections and video needs. This position will supervise part time crew and frequently collaborates with community and touring organizations, ensuring event success. Kingsbury Hall is a 1950-seat proscenium theatre in the heart of University of Utah that hosts a wide spectrum of events including the UtahPresents season of about 20 dance/music/film/theatrical performances as well as numerous rental events for community groups, national promoters, campus events, and student performances. Genres include classical and pop music, theater, dance, comedy, film screenings, lectures, conferences, graduations, and more. Support may extend to other UtahPresents presentations in other venues a few times a year. UtahPresents is a mission driven, non-profit, campus-based arts presenter located at the University of Utah with a focus on bringing diverse artistic and cultural experiences to the campus and the region. Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** + Serve as the audio engineer for assigned events, handling load-in, operation, and load-out. + Advance audio needs for incoming events at Kingsbury Hall and partner venues. + Augment, design, and implement sound systems as needed for UtahPresents venues. + Record and edit audio, including house announcements. + Ability to create and interpret technical documentation; stage plots, technical riders, input and backline lists, and other applicable production documentation. + Make recommendations for new equipment and procedures. + Supervise part-time and overhire/student crews during events, training them in best practices. + Work a variable schedule, including nights, weekends and occasionally holidays. + Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. + Excellent follow-through and the ability to work unsupervised. + A steady energy level and calm demeanor; ability to navigate challenges with creativity, flexibility, patience, tenacity, and empathy. + A team-based approach to the work environment. + Other duties as assigned by supervisor. **ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS** + Demonstrated proficiency in audio-related software and networking including QLab, Q- SYS , Digital Audio Work Stations ( DAWS ), GarageBand, Dante and similar. + Demonstrated familiarity with common consoles and equipment including Allen & Heath DLive, Yamaha, DiGiCo, etc. + Demonstrated familiarity with video and projection setup and operation as well as Blackmagic Design equipment and similar. + Proficiency in Vectorworks or AutoCAD a plus. + Projection mapping experience a plus. + Proficiency in basic office computer systems including Mac **OS** , Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Slack, ZOOM productions, cloud-based storage systems, etc. + Able to withstand long hours of concentrated physical activity, including reaching overhead and lifting 75+ pounds. + Able to climb ladders and work at heights over 20 feet. + Able to move heavy equipment and work with a variety of power tools and electronic systems. + Reasonable accommodations are considered for qualified individuals, but essential job functions must still be performed. \*This job description is not designed to contain or be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties and responsibilities required of the position. **Minimum Qualifications** Bachelor’s degree (or equivalency) in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency.
