Main Purpose of the Role:Léman Manhattan Preparatory School, located in the heart of downtown Manhattan’s Financial District, is seeking a skilled Audio Visual Specialist to join its innovative and collaborative Technology Department. The primary mission of this role is to create and maintain a seamless A/V experience for faculty, staff, and students, ensuring they can confidently and effectively utilize technology to enhance teaching, learning, and school events. The ideal candidate will be proficient in managing and troubleshooting A/V systems in an educational environment, as well as providing technical support for a variety of activities, including student performances such as plays and musicals, where lighting and audio needs are integral. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of technology and creativity in a vibrant academic setting.Key Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive A/V and technical support for school events, large meetings (including faculty and Board of Trustee meetings), and Fine Arts performances, with occasional evening and weekend commitments.
Proactively assess, maintain, and manage the school’s A/V equipment inventory, including projectors, interactive whiteboards, sound systems, microphones, video monitors, screens, and conferencing tools. Experience with both digital and analog sound and lighting consoles is essential.
Offer group and individual training for faculty and staff to ensure effective use of A/V technology in meeting spaces.
Collaborate with the Technology Department to develop and implement long-term strategic plans for the lifecycle management of A/V equipment, including upgrades, repairs, replacements, and installations.
Support the Technology Department with various initiatives, such as live-streaming events, technology support for non-academic departments, device management, and special project coordination.
Assist administration with Zoom and Google Meet meetings to ensure seamless virtual communication.
Any other tasks assigned by the Director of Technology
Qualification/Experience Proficient in theatre lighting and sound systems, including setup, configuration, and routine maintenance of lights, gobos, speakers, and other equipment.
Highly proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and results-focused, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.
Creative problem-solver with proven ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across varying technical skill levels.
