Position Title: Audio & Video Technician, Student Assistant Specialist Requisition Number: 0406073446 Location New York City Position Type: Student Department: Drama/Productions Responsibilities: The Production area at the College of Performing Arts is seeking highly motivated students to serve as Audio & Video Technician, Student Assistant Specialists.. The Audio & Video department is responsible for supporting the Audio and Video needs of academic related performances and partner events across the College of Performing Arts. This position reports to the Audio & Video Supervisor and is an ideal position for students who are interested in a career in the Live Sound Reinforcement, Live Streaming, and Theatrical Sound industries.

Work Mode Onsite only Some nights and weekends are required.
Responsibilities
Stage moves, install of audio and video equipment in theaters, and maintenance of gear and spaces. Understand and execute the technical aspects of each design, including interpreting Audio & Video needs and all signal flow plans, I/O lists, and stage plots, or ground plans Safely and neatly run signal and power cables, implement sound designer ground plans in theatrical load ins. Setup, place, patch, and test all microphones and speakers in conjunction with the A1 and A2. Assist in executing any stage moves required by the show Assist in maintenance of spaces and equipment as directed by the Audio & Video Supervisor Provide professional, courteous service to all parties Responsible for setup, operation, and strike of equipment before, during, and after events, including audio consoles, playback support systems, and any audio related gear as required Additional responsibilities as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Ability to interpret event technical documents including technical riders, signal flow diagrams, input lists, stage plots, run-of-show, and cue lists. Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and time-management skills Ability to communicate with other departments and event coordinator to ensure a smooth show. Punctuality, professionalism, and a positive collaborative attitude when working with Students, Faculty, Staff, and Team Members. Experienced or able to learn and develop fluency in The New School’s suite of applications including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and WorkDay. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications Corporate, Special Events, Festival Sound, and Broadcast experience are all plusses Working knowledge of digital consoles, specifically, Yamaha, Allen & Heath, Midas, and Behringer Able to lift up to 50lbs Recipient of a Federal Work Study award Current student in a College of Performing Arts degree program Job Family: New School for Drama Posting Date: 07/05/2024 Closing Date: Open Until Filled Yes Supplemental Questions
