The Audiologist is responsible for performing all audiologic and neurological procedures, within their scope of practice. They work collaboratively with different entities throughout Bon Secours Mercy Health to deliver high quality services to the patients they come in contact with. **Job** **Accountabilities:** **Essential** **1. Performs all audiologic procedures including, but not limited to, hearing evaluations,** **electronystagmography,** **immittance testing, hearing aid evaluations, site-of-lesion testing, evoked potentials, hearing aid** **fittings/checks/repairs,** **Cochlear Implant services, nursing home testing, preschool testing, otoacoustic emissions and industrial testing.** **Responsible for the** **development/implementation** **of Evoked Potential Testing.** + Schedules all audiologic and neurologic procedures. Transcribes all dictated reports. Copies, mails, faxes, and files all reports in a timely manner. + Records patient care results in the medical record and keeps copies of the results and reports for continuity of care. + Analyzes and interprets test results and provides written explanation for the referring physician, agency, etc. + Makes recommendations from the test interpretation for patient management. + Provides patient/family counseling. **2. Responsible for the development, implementation, and expansion of:** + The Hearing Aid Dispensing Program. + The Infant Hearing Screening Assessment Program, in compliance with the Ohio State Law. + The Hearing Monitoring Program for the Extended care facilities. + The Hearing Testing Program for DayCare/Preschool facilities. + The Hearing Testing, and Conservation Program for in-house and area industries. + The Infant Universal Hearing Screening Program, for all newborns/. moms, prior to discharge. **3. Quality of work** + Operates /maintains all equipment in the department. Is compliant with the ANSI standards. Initiates maintenance requisitions to repair equipment, furniture and building fixtures. + Assists with the development of the operating and capital budget for the department. + Responsible for the collecting, analyzing and reporting of QA data in the department. + Initiates, reviews, and revises the department’s policies and procedures. + Clinical adjunct for KSU students doing externships at SJHC. + Performs computer/entry functions. + Verifies patient insurance information for coverage of tests. + Participates in maintaining insurance contracts to remain a provider for insurance companies **Job** **Requirements** **EDUCATION:** + Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology + Master’s degree in Audiology or its equivalent + Certified Audiologist through the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association. + Licensed Audiologist/Speech pathologist in the state of Ohio **EXPERIENCE:** Desired: + Previous Audiology/Speech Pathology experience + Computer literacy Ongoing: + Maintains required amount of CEU’s for licensure. + Maintains current license and certification. + Maintains required health screens + Maintains current BLS + Attends mandatory education programs **KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL:** **Knowledge and skill required to perform the job responsibilities for both technical and dimensional content.** + Has in-depth knowledge of a specialized technical or administrative field, or a broad working knowledge of a professional field. + Analyzes and interprets complicated information. + Determines a course of action based on general guidelines. + May modify existing forms, procedures, or methods. + May use highly sophisticated equipment requiring extensive training. **PROBLEM SOLVING/DECISION MAKING:** **The degree to which judgment and analysis must be exercised in planning, investigating issues, and evaluating alternative solutions to the challenges posed by the job.** **Makes decisions based on analysis of facts and general principles.** + Receives guidance through broad policy only and has varied courses of action available. + Requires risk-taking and judgment to adapt existing philosophy or practices. **SCOPE OF** **IMPACT/ACCOUNTABILITY** : **The potential impact of actions on results and the job’s accountability for achieving results.** + Impacts multiple work areas on a day-to-day basis. + Provides information regularly to decision-making process. + Has little or no responsibility for committing resources (financial or staff) in work area(s) but performs analysis and makes recommendations **INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION:** **The nature and frequency of interpersonal human relations skills required by the job.
