Audiology Aide

As an Audiology Aide, you will provide supportive services in Audiology, as prescribed, directed and supervised by a licensed and certified audiologist. **A caregiver in this position works Days, from 8:00am-4:30pm.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Perform and document listening checks of test equipment. + Assist Audiologists in testing or setting up for testing. + Secure purchase orders through Oracle and processes all orders (e.g. hearing aids, earmolds, supplies) and repairs; documents all actions in patient HA files. + Preform listening checks on all new and returned hearing aids. + Triage mail/phone/email requests in HAL and resolves patient/requestor needs. + Interact with vendors/suppliers/Supply Chain Management (SCM) regarding purchases/invoices/orders. + Review statements monthly to ensure all invoices are paid in a timely manner at all HNI locations. + Verify accuracy of invoices at all HNI locations. + Liaison with Accounts Payable to ensure prompt and accurate payment of all audiology invoices for all HNI locations. + Maintain organization of the HA charts. + Maintain and restock Hearing Aid Lab (HAL) and File Room inventory of supplies, forms, and patient education materials - including preparation of all patient folders (e.g., HAE, HAF, TMC, CI folders). + Communicate with Section Head, Clinic Director, or HA Director and Program Manager of all actions taken. + Conduct non-diagnostic screening otoscopy. **Newborn Hearing Screening** + Verify proper equipment function daily and reports concerns or problems to Hearing Screening Coordinator or Clinical Engineering. + Perform hearing screening on all newborn infants prior to discharge in accordance with Ohio Department of Health rules and facility protocol using appropriate objective screening method: Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs) and/or Automated Auditory Brainstem Response (AABR). + Prepare infant's skin, if needed and proper placement of electrodes if performing AABR. + Communicate results and, if needed, follow up to the patient's family in a confidential and culturally appropriate manner. + Provide the safe transport of newborns following hospital protocols for infant security safety including infant identification. + Complete annual training to meet requirements by the Ohio Department of Health. + Maintain current Basic Life Support Certificate. + Communicate the results of the screening(s) and follow up (if needed) to the patients' family in a confidential and culturally appropriate manner. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + High school diploma. + Obtain Certification as Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC) by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservationists (CAOHC) obtained with new hire period as required by specific location. + One year of experience in a hospital setting or working with patients. + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. + Can interact professionally with all levels of clinical and hospital staff, patients, and families. + Can follow directions and communicate professionally. + Basic computer skills and ability to troubleshoot test equipment. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Associate's or Bachelor's degree in an allied health field (may offset experience requirement). + Licensed as an Audiology Aide from the Ohio Speech and Hearing Professional Board. + Certification as an Audiology Assistant from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). + Excellent organizational skills. + Communication Sciences and Disorders background.
