Job Summary
The School of Speech and Hearing Sciences (SSHS) in the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CNHP) at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) invites applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track Audiology Clinic Coordinator position beginning in January. This position provides an opportunity for leadership in an important and growing clinical outreach program that serves the Hattiesburg community, students who are interested in receiving an Audiology doctoral degree (Au.D.), and individuals in need of audiological services from the Gulf Coast to Jackson, MS.
The members of the audiology faculty currently provide educational training to undergraduate and doctoral students with concentrations in electrophysiology, clinical education, hearing science, rehabilitation/habilitation, amplification and vestibular evaluation and treatment. Our School is particularly interested in candidates whose training backgrounds include a broad range of clinical experiences. The doctoral program emphasizes clinical mentorship, diversity, and graduate teaching. Our faculty has established records of scholarship in the areas of clinical education, electrophysiology, statistical modeling and doctoral education and training. Our program intends to recruit applicants who will provide full-time supervision in the Audiology Clinic and manage both internal and external clinical practicum placements for Audiology doctoral students. We also are interested in applicants who will emphasize training doctoral students to become productive and accomplished practitioners.
The School of Speech and Hearing Science's programs include an undergraduate degree in Speech and Hearing Science, a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, and a doctoral degree in Audiology. Program delivery includes face-to-face, online, and hybrid formats. Qualified applicants will be prepared to contribute to the successful functioning of the Audiology clinical program. The Audiology graduate program currently has 36 students enrolled.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Serves as the point of contact for all clinical activities.
+ Coordinates all clinic and class schedules and monitors student progress and intervenes when necessary.
+ Provide supervision of all clinic related activities of the Au.D. students.
+ Provide direct supervision of Au.D. students.
+ Organizes clinic meetings and collaborates with on- and off-campus supervisors
+ Serves as the system administrator for CALIPSO
+ Organize the annual fall orientation for new graduate students; facilitate and lead the student externship process.
+ Create and maintain contracts between off-campus practicum sites and USM
+ Monitor credentialing updates and effectiveness of training sites
+ Prepare and report data for annual accreditation reports and provide audiological services within the USM Audiology Clinic.
+ Oversees maintenance/calibration of equipment.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
A minimum of an Au.D from an accredited college or university is required, licensure or ability to obtain licensure as an audiologist in the state of Mississippi, as well as hold the CCC-A. Applicant should demonstrate potential for excellence in university-level research and teaching.

+ Must demonstrate adaptability and persistence while working with individuals, their treatment plans and University students.
+ Must be detail oriented and timely with all required notes, files and documentation.
+ Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to be compassionate and empathetic while working with a diverse population.
+ Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
+ Must be able to travel and complete overnight stays.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. or Au.D from an accredited college or university with the CCC-A is preferred. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: hearing science, electrophysiology, rehabilitation/habilitation, amplification, or vestibular evaluation and treatment.
