Audiovisual Technician

Job Summary: The Audiovisual Technician uses independent decision-making skills to provide technical and system support to the clients who use Educational Technology Services. Requires excellent communication and time management skills. Demonstrates detailed working knowledge and familiarity with the various audio and video systems maintained by the Department of Educational Technology Services. Specializes in one or more areas of expertise: Audio Engineering, Video Engineering, Distance Learning, or Audio/Video Digital Technologies. Responsible for coordinating the Department's activities in one or more of the above mentioned specialties. Perform other duties as needed.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum one year of related work experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Broad knowledge of trends and new equipment in audio recording, sound reinforcement, etc.  Able to use a computer and all software necessary to the position. Able to use spreadsheets and word processing as well as other standard office applications. Expertise in two or more modern programming languages. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate on the phone. Able to deal effectively with people and elicit support from other department areas and users. Able to analyze and interpret and process data and needs based on limited information.  Able to organize work, define problems and solutions, and make recommendations. Must have knowledge of effective planning and design techniques. Able to work effectively on multiple projects required. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
