Audit Director Credit & Specialized Lending
Job Purpose & Scope Responsible for the delivery and management of a portfolio of audit assignments to ensure that all business and technology risks are managed. Assignments may include Real Estate Specialties Group, Corporate & Institutional Banking, Commercial Banking, Indirect Lending & Consumer Finance Group, Residential Mortgage Lending, Special Assets, Loan Administration, and Credit Risk Management. Essential Job Functions Maintains business relationships with appropriate levels of management to ensure Internal Audit is aware of changes in business activities and objectives and, as necessary, Internal Audit priorities are assessed and planned. Interacts effectively with Internal Audit team members in working toward departmental goals; demonstrates ability to resolve team conflicts and bring the team together to enhance project results through group planning, feedback, and development skills. Prepares project assessments for audit team members and provide ongoing coaching to members with various levels of experience. Manages and delivers a portfolio of Internal Audit projects and Sarbanes Oxley compliance as assigned to ensure business and technology risks are anticipated, identified, recognized, and appropriately managed in alignment with the Audit Plan and other initiatives. Performs risk assessments and develops an audit plan as part of the Bank’s audit universe. Prepares and/or approves the audit scope, work program, and testing plan for each audit assignment. Provides day-to-day support for each audit to ensure the quality of Audit services. Manages an Audit team and ensures audits are performed in accordance with department and professional standards. Reviews audit work papers for completeness and accuracy. Reviews and/or prepares audit findings for business managers and proposes recommendations for changes as needed; prepares and provides reports to the audit client. Evaluates the adequacy of timeliness of management’s response and the corrective action taken for issues noted in the reports. Serves as subject matter expert with managerial responsibilities over all aspects of large-scale, most complex, or high-profile audits. Leads multiple projects and communicates appropriately with identified stakeholders within Internal Audit and business management. Tracks and follows up on open issues and key business initiatives and ensures timely delivery of high-quality comprehensive regulatory and internal audit issue validation. Regularly exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions. Maintain good attendance and punctuality to work. Follow Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines. Perform other related duties, as assigned, which may include: Participates in activities related to new products, and mergers and acquisitions, and analyzes new policies to ensure control considerations are evaluated in the early stages of these activities. Provides consulting services to management to assist in efforts that improve the control environment. Provides feedback to enhance Internal Audit’s policies, procedures, and methodologies to improve the effectiveness in achieving its Charter. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of audit principles and practices as they relate to business risks. Knowledge of banking laws and regulatory requirements and standards. Ability to execute portfolio of high-quality deliverables effectively and concurrently while meeting exacting deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and demonstrates these skills during the audit process to the appropriate level of management. Ability to coherently articulate complex theories, concepts, methodology, and findings to non-technical audiences. Ability to demonstrate critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills. Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, including working in a team environment and building cross-functional relationships. Ability to produce high quality documents, presentations, and analyses. Ability to interact with a variety or organizational levels. Ability to manage, lead, and mentor a staff of diverse professionals. Ability to travel for business purposes. Skill in evaluating controls associated with complex business processes. Skill in using computer including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point). Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (i.e. accounting, finance, business administration, economics) or commensurate work experience required. 10+ years of professional services work experience related to banking industry and/or regulatory agency, required. 4+ years of management experience directing professionals engaged in internal audit activities or related field, required. Current CPA, CFA, CIA, or related designation(s), preferred. Experience with auditing software (Teammate +), preferred.
