Work Schedule: 

100% FTE, 40 hours/week. 8-hour day shifts scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of department.

We are seeking an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Treatment Services Specialist to:

Join our Autism Treatment team at the Waisman Center, a distinctive partnership between the Waisman Center at UW-Madison, a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) and UW Health providing evidence based, family centered behavioral treatment for young children with autism and their families.

Provide one-on-one teaching for children with ASD. Plan and provide learning opportunities during play.  In our naturalistic play based model you will engage in motivating child led activities, spending more time doing art projects, dancing and movement games, playing pretend, building on the floor, exploring outside in the Discovery Garden, than at the table.  Weekly training team meetings and supervision in session are provided by Licensed Behavior Analysts and ESDM Certified Therapists. Parent coaching is a key component of our program; offering Treatment Specialists practice in observing sessions and modelling strategies paired with the BCBAs. Your daily schedule will include working with 3 children, each for an individual  90 minute session, Monday – Thursday. Fridays are dedicated to team trainings, data summary and analysis, session planning and meetings with the BCBAs for program updates and addressing staff questions.   Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education Required Speech-Language Pathology, Child through young adulthood and family life development, or youth education Required Experience in an educational setting with coursework or internship or student teaching with a special needs population Preferred   Work Experience 1 year of experience caring for children, teens, adults, and/or supporting families Required 6 months or more of direct experience (work or volunteer) with children, teens, and/or adults with special needs and their families Preferred Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion UW Health is committed to being a diverse, equitable, inclusive and anti-racist workplace and is an Equal Employment Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.
