Auto Detailer Technician Job Description

Under general supervision, the Auto Detailer Technician is responsible for preparing truck bodies and other miscellaneous parts for the painting process. Additionally, this role may assist in other related duties such as sandblasting.

ResponsibilitiesLocate and remove imperfections on panels prior to painting.Prepare vehicle surfaces for minor damage repairs, including plastic or liquid filler, caulking, and preparing surfaces to be paint-ready.Apply paper and masking tape to protect unpainted surfaces such as bumpers, windows, chrome trim, and other parts while surrounding areas are spray-painted.Tape the truck bodies using tape, paper, and plastic bags to prevent overspray and ensure that paint does not go on areas that do not require paint.Smooth unmasked surfaces with sandpaper, removing gloss from previous coats of paint.Sand rough spots and imperfections.After the truck body is painted, remove masking tape and clean the vehicle.Move the body or vehicle to a designated area for buffing as required.Maintain high attention to detail to ensure that the job is completed on time and done right the first time to eliminate reworks or additional labor.Must be able to work overtime as required by business needs, including occasional Saturdays.Essential SkillsQuality controlPrep surfaces (clean and prepare vehicle)Assist in other areas of productionSandblastingStrong attention to detailPaint prepHand toolsIndustrial paintingQuality inspectionQuality assuranceInspectionGeneral laborAssemblyAutomotive repairAutomotive serviceAutomotive partsAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in locating and removing imperfections on panelsSkills in preparing vehicle surfaces for minor damage repairsAbility to apply paper and masking tape to protect unpainted surfacesProficiency in smoothing unmasked surfaces with sandpaperExperience in sanding rough spots and imperfectionsAbility to work overtime as requiredWhy Work Here

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00
