Fujitsu’s GIS Center of Excellence
Fujitsu’s organizational model includes several North American centers of excellence (COE). The geographic information systems (GIS) COE is one of them. It covers all of Fujitsu's North American offices – a global offering, a local presence – and carries out projects around the world.
Fujitsu gives the GIS world several elements that distinguish it from other companies. Those main elements include the following:
Fujitsu offers a combination of specialized resources in the development of large GIS systems – nearly 100 GIS specialists working exclusively on GIS projects. Since the early 1980s, Fujitsu has completed more than 500 large-scale GIS projects worth from a few thousand to several million dollars for public and private organizations in more than 30 countries, and in a variety of industries – all those initiatives have led to successes that our customers are quick to point out. Fujitsu helps organizations develop a holistic view of their data and systems, regardless of the nature of those data and systems – the result is optimal planning of information management across the organization.Fujitsu is recognized in North America and around the world as a key player in the GIS sector, having completed numerous major integration projects. Customers recognize Fujitsu's unique expertise and value – Fujitsu has been working with some of those customers for more than 25 years.
Context of the project
Fujitsu signed a major contract with a provincial Crown corporation with a mandate to generate, purchase, distribute and sell electricity. Fujitsu provides Application Maintenance Services and Enhancement Services for two application portfolios: Maintenance and Development Services for Energy Operations, and Business & Legacy Application Software Maintenance. The applications in these two portfolios are all the applications that control power production and distribution in the province. In addition to these geographic information systems (GIS), Fujitsu is also responsible for other critical business systems and technologies including FileNet, TIBCO ESB, Java, Microsoft, CTI IVR, and Tririga.
In this context, Fujitsu is seeking a skilled and experienced Autodesk Vault Architect to play an important role in the design and implementation of our new Autodesk Vault solution. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of data management principles and a proven track record of successfully designing and implementing complex systems. Following the project phase, this role will transition to ongoing maintenance and governance.
