Automation & Controls Engineer, GSE Automation, Project Kuiper
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

This role will design, commission, and support automated controls applications for Project Kuiper satellite production and test. This may include electro-mechanical hardware design and PLC control, SCADA applications, integration of vendor-supplied equipment, and automated scripting applications. This is a highly collaborative position that interfaces with Project Kuiper production, engineering, IT and software teams.

Key job responsibilities
- Work with Project Kuiper design and manufacturing teams to implement unique industrial automation solutions to support high rate satellite production
- Create automated test and manufacturing applications using Ignition SCADA, Siemens TIA Portal, and in-house software tools.
- Conduct formal risk assessment and mitigation for safety critical automated systems
- Commission and troubleshoot integrated electro-mechanical systems and electrical harnessing as needed for commissioning and support activities
- Contribute to the overall architecture for a high-performing, connected, safe and maintainable factory

Export Control Requirement:

A day in the life
This is a fast-paced, intellectually challenging position. You will work with leaders in multiple technology areas across Project Kuiper to define and develop automation systems to meet the program needs. In addition, you will be responsible for project management, cost estimates and scheduling. You’ll have relentlessly high standards for yourself and everyone you work with, and you’ll be constantly looking for ways to improve your product’s performance, quality and cost. About the team
The Ground Support Equipment (GSE) team is responsible for designing and commissioning automation and tooling for Satellite testing and production. This in-house team of engineers and support technicians work directly with satellite designers, testers, and manufacturing engineers to solve unique problems in high-volume satellite production.
