Primary Duties:
•    Receive assignments from Director of Technology.
•    Report on status and communicate technical issues. 
•    Develop technical documentation and specifications.
•    Write PLC and HMI application software.
•    Develop system test plan documents, simulation code, and perform system testing.
•    Coordinate with project management, technical leads, and/or end customers to commission systems.
Qualifications:
•    Engineering degree or equivalent experience in industrial automation.
•    Qualified entry level candidates will be considered.
•    Aptitude in programming/configuring PLC’s (Allen Bradley, Siemens, and GE), drives (Siemens, ABB, and Allen Bradley), and or HMI packages is a plus.
•    Experience in metals processing is strongly preferred.
•    Willingness and desire to participate in ongoing training to maintain technical competency in automation products, software, and complimentary areas.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and Visio
•    Communication skills both written and verbal are required.

Responsibilities:
•    Work with Technology and Operations staff to design and deliver solutions, seeking feedback and innovating to drive and deliver improvements. Attend project meetings and present all technical aspects of project assignments. Interact with officials, contractors, suppliers, and others.
•    Acts as a design authority for engineering deliverables in all applicable engineering disciplines.
•    Develop and review standard processes, tools and techniques while ensuring that engineering activities comply with safety regulations and contractual requirements.
•    Defines project tasks and ensures allocation of these tasks among project team members. Defines schedule, cost, and quality metrics. Coordinates the creation of work plans and cost estimates in all applicable engineering disciplines.
•    Evaluates risks and opportunities, strategizes mitigation of engineering projects/ programs. Support the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments, and implementation of resulting actions.
•    Collaborates on project installation, commissioning, and site activities, clarifying potential issues or providing solutions to correct engineering errors. Provides technical support to commissioning and start-up activities.
•    Preparation of technical proposals, coordinating documents and engineering estimates, and performing risk analyses

Background:
•    Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electrical/ Systems/ Robotics engineering, and minimum 2 years' experience in engineering, automation, controls, robotics, OR Associates Degree, preferably in a technical field, and 10 years' experience in engineering, automation, controls, robotics. 
•    Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and Lean/Six sigma.
•    Experience in Robotics centric application engineering, working as an engineering lead with extensive hands-on experience in Controls/ Electrical/ instrumentation design, PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)/ HMI (Human Machine Interface)/ PC (Process Center)/ Robot programming, Simulation, FAT, startup and commissioning of Greenfield and Brownfield projects.
•    Experience in automation systems for logistics applications – Knowledge of Rockwell, Siemens, Fanuc controls platform or similar. Familiarity with Gateways, fail-safe systems, and communication protocols for interface to third party systems.
•    A well-rounded approach for systems design, change control, integration of sub systems. Lead technical reviews during toll gates and other critical project milestones. Knowledge of UL (Underwriters Laboratories)/ CSA standards. Sound knowledge of engineering and project management techniques, processes, and tools with a strong focus on safety and dedication to following workplace safety guidelines. Experience with solid-works and AutoCAD preferred.
