Automation Engineer
SUMMARY OF ROLE: 8hr. Day Shift (Need days of the week)
**90-100K Base Salary
The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and enhancing automation systems to optimize plant operations. Key duties include utilizing PLC expertise for: testing and debugging systems, integrating new solutions with existing hardware, and maintaining system documentation and user training. Automation Engineer will ensure that all automation activities comply with regulatory standards and will work closely with other engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve processes. They will also identify new automation opportunities, develop specifications and safety protocols, and perform routine maintenance and system checks. Additionally, this position requires staying current with advancements in automation technology and collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold quality and safety standards. • Carrying out analyses by using Programmable Logic Controller software (PLC) and other automation tools provided by the company.
• Designing and developing new automation systems and improvements to existing ones.
• Testing and debugging automation systems to ensure smooth deployment.
• Integrating automation systems with existing factory hardware.
• Writing and updating system documentation and providing user training.
• Ensuring all automation activities comply with regulatory standards.
• Working with other engineers to troubleshoot and improve processes.
• Identifying opportunities for automation within software processes.
• Developing specifications and safety protocols for automation systems.
• Performing routine maintenance and system checks to ensure functionality.
• Keeping abreast of advances and trends in automation and relevant industries.
• Design, program, simulate and test automated machinery and processes.
• Identify opportunities for automation within software processes.
• Install, maintain, and repair automation equipment and systems.
• Develop and implement efficient automated systems.
• Train staff on automation systems operation and procedures.
• Keep up-to-date with latest technologies and trends in automation systems.
• Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot automation system problems.
• Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the development process.
• Develop and implement quality control procedures.
• Ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.
YOU BRING THESE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
3 to 5 years’ full cycle/functions of Programmable Logistic Controller (PLC) software.
Allen-Bradley or Siemens is a plus.
o Experience in Auto CAD, Minitab, solid works or related software desired
o Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
o Experience with using Project Management software is preferred.
o LEAN, Six Sigma &/or Green Belt experience or certification is a plus.
