Design, program, simulate, and test automated machinery and processes. Identify opportunities for automation within software processes. Develop and implement software that controls and monitors mechanical systems. Troubleshoot equipment and process issues related to automation.

Required Education and Experience

BS in Mechanical, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.3 -5 years of experience with an emphasis in Automation.Prior work experience in operations project management, automation project management, or similar areas – including intern or co-op assignments – desirableComfortable in ambiguous situations where requirements may be unclearComfortable in factory environmentsAbility to work independently and in a team environment.Knowledge of LEAN principles20 – 30% travel, domestic and internationalCommunication skills.Strong organizational skills.Experience with automation projects involving metal machining.Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Lead simultaneous projects.Own responsibility for technical project leadership as directed.Gain new knowledge of automation technology and solutions.Use engineering knowledge to assess current processes and architect automation solutions.Spearhead technology research to deliver state-of-the-art processes and design concepts.Work across multiple facilities with separate stakeholder teams and processes.Work with project managers to set and manage goals, deliverables, and timelines.Communicate project status to management.Build payback models and assist in writing capital requests.Attend trade shows and vendor visits to become a rounded industry expert on current state of the art technologies and implementation strategies.Develop and maintain documentation for automation systems.Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with automation systems.Train manufacturing staff and maintenance staff on new automation systems.

Required Physical Demands

Standing for more than 20 minutes, walking more than 50 ft., reach above, at or below shoulders, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and /or squat, grasping, hand/ wrist twisting, lifting of up to 25 lbs.
