Job Summary: Support and develop PLC, HMI, and Robotic software for control systems and equipment. Specifically, the Automation Engineer is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, optimizing, and implementing new automation solutions, as well as existing automation equipment. Knowledge of robot programming, control systems, and production automation are key elements of this position.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Engineering, or equivalent requiredKnowledge of robot programming such as Fanuc and Universal RoboticsKnowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), HMI’s, servo/motion systems

Strong computer skills with a background in programmingAbility to lift 50 poundsAbility to stand for extended periods of time (8-10 hours or more), frequent bending and twistingExcellent problem-solving skills with ability to resolve with automation/controls solutionsAbility to develop training programs and to effectively communicate and train personnelThe knowledge and ability to apply lean manufacturing principles and techniquesMust have vision correctable to 20/20

Responsibility/Authority

Provides technical expertise to program and maintain automation equipment and to optimize the utilization and efficiency of automation equipmentInvestigate and solve complex problems with automation solutions of new and/or existing equipmentSupport projects and leads activities related to process equipment installation and startupSupports the standardization of common processes and automation solutionsManage multiple project schedules while updating project documentation for updates to key leadershipDevelops automation training programs, maintenance schedules, and is the resident expert for automation/controls equipmentControls all program master files and maintains program standardization for automation projectsLeads the effort to reduce setup times, establish standard operating procedures, and provide specialized training where required on automation projectsWorks with engineering to provide accurate setup time and cycle time estimates
