You Are:

The Automation Engineering Team is dedicated to automating repetitive tasks and processes and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our tools and services. This team collaborates closely with the SRE team to develop and maintain automation solutions.

 

 

The opportunity:

·       Automation Development:

o   Create automation scripts for routine tasks using Python, Jenkins DSL, Groovy, Ansible, Terraform, Bash, and PowerShell.

·       Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Configuration Management:

o   Implement Infrastructure as Code practices to manage and provision resources.

o   Develop and maintain configuration management solutions.

·       Deployment Automation & Testing:

o   Automate deployment processes to reduce manual effort and errors.

o   Implement testing automation to ensure the reliability of deployments.

·       Monitoring & Performance Optimization:

o   Develop and implement automation for monitoring solutions.

o   Optimize system performance through automation and process improvements.

·       Collaboration & Documentation:

o   Collaborate with SREs and other teams to develop comprehensive automation solutions.

o   Create and maintain detailed documentation and training materials for automation processes.

·       Vendor Management:

o   Participate in vendor calls to learn about new features and vendor roadmaps.

o   Address issues with vendors and present feature requests based on team and organizational needs.

·       Training & Workshops:

o   Conduct training sessions, workshops, demos, and roadshows to promote automation best practices.

o   Develop and share patterns and innovations within the team and organization.

·       On-Call Duties:

o   Participate in on-call rotations to provide support and address automation-related issues.

·       A Day in the Life

o   Automation Development:

·       Develop and maintain automation scripts using languages such as Python, Jenkins DSL, Groovy, Ansible, Terraform, Bash, and PowerShell.

o   Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Configuration Management:

·       Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure.

·       Create and maintain configuration management solutions to ensure consistency across environments.

o   Deployment Automation & Testing:

·       Automate deployment processes to minimize manual intervention and reduce errors.

·       Develop and integrate testing automation to ensure reliability and quality of deployments.

o   Monitoring & Performance Optimization:

·       Automate monitoring processes to enhance system observability and ing.

·       Work on performance optimization through automation and process improvements.

o   Vendor Management:

·       Participate in vendor calls to stay informed about new features and vendor roadmaps.

·       Address issues with vendors and discuss feature requests to improve tool functionality and alignment with team needs.

o   Collaboration & Documentation:

·       Partner with the Enterprise Architecture (EA) team to discuss and implement solutions and ideas.

·       Collaborate with SREs and other engineering teams to develop comprehensive automation solutions.

·       Create and maintain detailed documentation and training materials for automation processes and tools.

o   Training & Workshops:

·       Conduct training sessions, workshops, and demos to promote best practices in automation.

·       Develop and share patterns and innovative solutions within the team and the organization.

o   Working the Backlog:

·       Utilize a scrum board and participate in one to two-week sprints to manage and complete tasks.

·       Address tasks and initiatives from the Azure DevOps (ADO) Kanban board, focusing on automation-related projects.

·       Participate in planning sessions to align on priorities and upcoming tasks with the team.

o   Postmortems & Escalation Point:

·       Actively participate in blameless postmortems to analyze incidents and develop preventive measures.

·       Serve as an escalation point for back-end engineers, providing expertise and assistance in resolving complex issues.

o   Maintenance Window & On-Call Duties:

·       Support maintenance window activities by automating repetitive tasks and ensuring smooth operations.

·       Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for automation-related issues and escalations.

Benefits
