Automation Engineer - Linux Security

Use this great opportunity to focus on high quality of produced software and grow in operating system security. The Red Hat Quality Engineering (QE) Team is looking for an Automation Engineer to join us in the Czech Republic. 

In this role, you are responsible to contribute to the automated testing of the security features and functionality delivered in the operating system. You will explore new possibilities for Linux and apply your interest in computer security to improve Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Fedora. You'll design and develop automated testing and tooling to support continuous integration (CI) goals. You'll have an opportunity to grow and familiarize yourself with operating system security and technologies like IPsec, OpenSSH, OpenSSL, TLS, security compliance and certifications.

What you will do

Use your programming expertise and Linux security knowledge to support high quality solutions with a focus on productization of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)

Design and develop tests and tools to support automation and CI goals

Uncover issues to prevent impact on functionality, usability, security or interoperability of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) with other solutions

Closely collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

Get involved in open source projects and communities

Stay up to date with the latest technologies and development methodologies.

What you will bring

Experienced Linux power user or good orientation in general Linux system administration who understands the linux architecture, boot process, services, etc.

is able to accomplish basic administrative tasks in the terminal, e.g., install packages, work with filesystem, etc.

Knowledge of the shell scripting (bash) and  basic text processing utilities such as grep, sed, etc.

Understanding of key operating system and security concepts

Analytical thinking, understanding customers’ perspective, and good problem-solving skills

Ability to work as part of a team and learn quickly

Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English

The following are considered a plus

Interest in Security and Cryptography

Knowledge of or interest in technology areas like secure networking, security compliance, SELinux, IAA (identity, authentication, and authorization) solutions, security certifications and compliance, logging, and auditing

Python or any other programming language

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning interest or experience

Involvement in some upstream open source project

Experience with modern agile software development principles, methodologies and processes
