Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IVCS)

Our Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 will be responsible for maintaining all unit-dose medications required for daily dispensing from the Omnicell automated IV equipment. They will prepare and maintain the Omnicell IV automated equipment for daily use, perform advanced equipment troubleshooting, and maintain optimal medication inventory levels. Additionally, they will review/maintain reports, engage with various levels of customer service by identifying and addressing customer concerns, and report to the Pharmacy Services Manager.

Responsibilities:

Perform IV automation tasks in an aseptic, error-free manner, consistent with prescribed guidelines. Clean and maintain IV automation equipment. Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when handling medications. Identify and order medications to ensure inventories are at optimal levels. Monitor and order consumable supplies required for equipment operation. Perform advanced troubleshooting and prescribed maintenance of IV automation equipment, reporting unresolved issues to the IV HD. Maintain a high level of communication with the Pharmacy Services Manager and customers to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem resolution. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program with customer-focused support, emphasizing quality, professionalism, and responsiveness. Act as a liaison between OMCL and the customer to address concerns. Comply with IV compounding procedures, policies, and guidelines established by the customer facility. Complete negative fingertip and media fill sampling. Maintain state and/or national credentialing to meet established guidelines.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills:

Strong organizational skills; accurate, reliable, and efficient. Demonstrated customer-facing skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work with mechanical equipment. Working knowledge of computer hardware and PC Windows.

Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Active License/Registration with a State Board of Pharmacy. Active Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT); PTCB or ExCPT accepted. Working knowledge of IV compounding. Covid 19 vaccine.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced troubleshooting skills with automation devices. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Pharmacy Services department. One year of IV compounding experience. Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous medications. Proficiency in the use of PPE and hand hygiene techniques. Working knowledge of sterile environment requirements. Working knowledge of pharmacy automation.

Working Conditions:

Travel 100% regionally Pharmacy environment. Capable of standing for several hours at a time. Potential exposure to hazardous drugs. Able to lift 25–30 lbs.

Compensation will vary based on region. For the state of Maryland only, expected pay is $26/hr - $27/hr.
