Join Our Team as an Automation Systems Application Director!
Are you passionate about Sales? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to coordinate our Automated Systems function. As an Automation Systems Application Director, you’ll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. The Automation Systems Applications Director is responsible for the sales and application of S&C Electric Company’s full suite of Automation solutions for utility, microgrid, and targeted industrial markets. Products include IntelliRupter®, TripSaver II, and all Remote Supervisory Switchgear and related equipment including automation software, Capacitor Controls, and Relays. Responsibilities include sales support for the Southcentral Sales Region, customer presentations, application support, field product set-up and programming, training, commercial representation at industry meetings, and any additional duties necessary to support the order entry goals of the Southcentral Region. This individual would need to reside in proximity with easy access to the territories of the Southcentral Region which includes the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This position reports to the Regional Vice President – Sales responsible for the Southcentral Region.
Key Responsibilities:
Interfacing with Sales to define and address customer needs and sales strategies by account.
In harmony with the Regional Sales Team, conduct customer visits and perform product presentations when needed.
Write product feature specifications and provide application support for all automation products and services.
Make new product introductions and promotions upon inception.
Utilize insight messaging techniques.
Develop, coordinate, and support the execution of promotional strategies and tactics for all Regional customers.
Coordination and development of automation project proposals.
Review customer specifications and provide all exceptions, clarifications, and deviations as required for all RFI’s and RFQ’s.
Work with the Territory Managers and Manufacturer Representative salespeople to develop and implement S&C product and service specifications for all automation and remote supervisory opportunities.
Maintain specification and activity database for major accounts involved with automation and remote supervisory applications.
Perform market analysis and produce product requirement specifications for communication and automation switching protection products.
Automation application support to Sales on control driven devices and related software: TripSaver II, IntelliRupter, Scada-Mate and SM-CX, Omni-Rupter, Alduti-Rupter, 6800 and 6801M controls, Remote Supervisory Vista, RSPMH, RSPME, radios, IntelliTeam SG, IntelliNode, Micro-AT, IntelliLink, Designer, and new products currently being introduced to the market. Sales support includes pre & post order customer meetings to define the project plus consultations with factory SME’s to tailor the application as needed.
Communicate new automation solutions or features to the Territory Managers and Rep salespeople when appropriate.
Assist design team and product support team with defining product needs and features of the future.
Attend Industry events to represent S&C, make presentations and gather competitive info.
Product development activity for ideas, feedback, and trials.
Broad-based, high-level product training to both customers and field sales.
Provide training and updates to field sales on new products and features and serve as a clearing house for the field on all questions related to automation solutions.
Occasionally generate white paper or business case content.
What you’ll Need To Succeed:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (preferred), MBA degree or business degree a plus.
Travel required, approximately 50-60%.
Business Development experience in Electrical Utility Markets preferred.
Ability to interface with internal and external customers/suppliers.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills including speaking, writing, and presentation capabilities.
The ability to fly and drive to sales territories in the Region.
Must have Sales and/or Application Engineering experience. Field Service commissioning, startup and troubleshooting capability as well as pre/post-sales support is important. Cold calling sales experience is a plus.
