Summary

Perform body repairs and welding required in the repair, maintenance and rebuilding of automotive and associated equipment. This work will be performed at the main repair shop, in the Division shops or on the road.  
 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Duties are:
 

Make welding repairs on engine assemblies performing such work as welding and stress relieving of cylinder heads and cylinder blocks; weld manifolds, distributor housings, water and oil pumps, timing gear and valve covers. Make repairs to the cooling, fuel and exhaust systems such as repair radiators, radiator grills and shells, fan blades, gasoline tanks, exhaust pipes and mufflers; straighten and repair exhaust pipes brackets; install exhaust heaters. Make welding repairs to clutch assemblies such as repair clutch housings and clutch pedal pads, fill in and braze clutch connecting yokes. Make welding or brazing repairs to transmissions, rear axles, rear end suspensions, and front end assemblies, performing such work as welding and repairing transmission housings and covers, gear shift levers and power take-off housings; weld, braze, or straighten rear axle housings and drive shafts; fill in and braze drive shaft yokes; braze king pin and tie rod yokes, remove and install ring gears on fly wheels, rivet ring gears on differential carriers; straighten front     axles. Make welding or brazing repairs to brake rods, shafts, yokes and cams; straighten rake rods and shafts. Make repairs to chassis performing such work as repair, straighten, and align chassis frames; weld, straighten and reinforce cross members; and replace loose rivets; repair, straighten, or replace battery carriers where welding or    cutting work is required. Install and remove bodies; make major body and frame repairs to all types of automotive equipment performing such work on body and frame sections as cutting, filling, straightening, shrinking, repairing and replacing; clean and smooth metal in repaired areas. Weld and repair body and frame accessories performing such work as repair or replace steel floors; repair rear decks; repair, construct and install brackets; repair or replace fenders, running boards, splash pans, hoods, and metal trim. Perform welding or brazing work on winch or winch assemblies. Install and remove hydraulic operating mechanisms and accessory equipment such as hydraulic booms, pistons, piping, and control valves; recondition, straighten and repair derrick boom poles and associated equipment. Construct, fit, and assemble parts used on aerial lifts and on maintenance ladders and stanchions; install and remove ladders on trucks. Perform welding or brazing work on equipment and parts such as transformer and regulator cases, tools, parts for special applications, laboratory test specimens, and other field equipment. Dismantle, rebuild and perform all carpentry work on cars or truck bodies and associated equipment. Remove and replace body hardware and reset hinges. Perform all upholstery, glass and trim work required in the maintenance, repair and rebuilding of automotive and associated equipment, including auxiliary equipment. Learn the use of fire extinguishing equipment for the various types of fires related to this work. Perform clerical work pertaining to the job, and supply information for estimates. Learn the Company's safety rules as they apply to the duties to be performed and learn and become proficient in the application of approved methods of artificial respiration. Required:

High school diploma or GED Must possess at least 4 years experience in Auto Body Repair with ability to perform the following:  Collision Repairs including: uni-body, frame, (Car O Liner) panel repair/replacement, Fab of sheet metal and structure Welding: Stick, MIG, TIG, Oxy-Acetylene and Brazing.  Must possess communication and mathematical skills required to perform the job duties of this position.  Must have the ability to complete necessary forms and paperwork associated with the job duties.  Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
