WHAT TO EXPECT
You will be working at the forefront of automotive innovation, and JLR’s Prototype Vehicle Electricians are essential to that mission.
Within our state-of-the-art Powertrain Test Facility, you'll be a key member of the team developing next-generation engines and electrified powertrains.
This role demands a highly skilled and motivated individual with a passion for automotive technology and a meticulous approach to electrical systems.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to build and modify wiring harnesses for prototype vehicles and powertrain test rigs
• Install and connect a wide range of electrical components, including sensors, actuators, ECUs, high-voltage systems, and data acquisition equipment
• Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify and rectify electrical faults in prototype vehicles and test rigs
• Meticulously document all work carried out for traceability and continuous improvement
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to JLR's 5S principles
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
• Recognised apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in automotive electrical engineering
• Experience as an automotive electrician, with a strong emphasis on diagnostics and problem-solving
• Experience working in a research and development, prototype build, or testing environment is highly advantageous
• Familiarity with data acquisition systems and a good understanding of automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN) are highly desirable
• Ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and wiring diagrams to build and modify wiring harnesses for prototype vehicles and powertrain test rigs
