This position exists to provide purchasing and inventory management of various commodities and consigned inventories for Central Shop as needed. Provide specifications, purchasing direction and product distribution so that all clientele can perform their jobs within the guidelines of the Materials Management Plan. Support the Central Shop timely matter to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
MnDOT does not sponsor applicants for visas or Optional Practical Exam for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
**Minimum Qualifications**
To qualify for Transportation Materials Technician, applicants must meet one of the following:
One year of experience working with the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Materials Management System sufficient to research equipment, parts, and materials through a variety of resources and methods; establish and evaluate product comparison data; and analyze detailed reports to recommend/determine and purchase appropriate inventory.
**OR**
Two years of experience working with automated Materials Management/Inventory Management Systems.
Successful candidate resumes must also demonstrate:
+ Experience researching heavy equipment/automotive parts and/or construction materials.
+ Experience establishing and evaluating product comparison data for purchasing inventory (quote/bid).
+ Experience with spreadsheets and word processing (examples – Excel and Word).
+ Authority for Local Purchase (ALP) Certificate from the Minnesota Department of Administration within 6 months of hire to pass probation.
+ Forklift Certification within 6 months of hire to pass probation.
