Summary This job opportunity is for an AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC, position description D0348P01, within the 177th LRS of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The purpose of this position is to maintain, repair and modify various types of motor vehicles, both gasoline and diesel powered. Responsibilities As an AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC, WG-5823-10, you will: Prepare, maintain and submit maintenance work orders. Inspect general condition of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. Diagnose malfunctions by visual or auditory examination methods. Use special power tools, hand tools and a wide variety of test equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Additional Employment Requirements: -Participation in direct deposit is mandatory -May be required to successfully complete a probationary period -Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation -Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Military Grade: Min: SRA/E-4 and Max: TSGT/E-6 Applicant(s) (Enlisted) who are over grade must clearly state, in their resumes, their intentions to willingly take a reduction in grade Title 32 Dual-Status Positions: Compatible Military Assignments Appointments may require the selected candidate to be assigned to a *military unit* compatible with the full-time Military Technician (Dual Status) position. *Military Unit* -- The unit by which the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee; or a unit that the individual is employed as a Military Technician (Dual Status) employee to support. Using test equipment, referencing material and manuals, and maintaining tools and equipment. Knowledge of where and how components, accessories, and parts of systems are installed. Must not be on any job-related restrictions. Specialized Experience: Must have at least 18 months experience or training performing the following: Maintaining procedures without assistance. Identifying the need for repair and adjustment. Demonstrating knowledge and use of a wide variety of test and measuring instruments. Checking the tolerance and fit specifications of repaired components and assemblies.
