Summary This job opportunity is for an AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC, position description D0348P01, within the 177th LRS of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position. The purpose of this position is to maintain, repair and modify various types of motor vehicles, both gasoline and diesel powered. Responsibilities As an AUTOMOTIVE MECHANIC, WG-5823-10, you will: Prepare, maintain and submit maintenance work orders. Inspect general condition of gasoline and diesel powered vehicles. Diagnose malfunctions by visual or auditory examination methods. Use special power tools, hand tools and a wide variety of test equipment. Using test equipment, referencing material and manuals, and maintaining tools and equipment. Knowledge of where and how components, accessories, and parts of systems are installed. Must not be on any job-related restrictions. Specialized Experience: Must have at least 18 months experience or training performing the following: Maintaining procedures without assistance. Identifying the need for repair and adjustment. Demonstrating knowledge and use of a wide variety of test and measuring instruments. Checking the tolerance and fit specifications of repaired components and assemblies.
