Autopsy Attendant

Amergis Healthcare Staffing is seeking a M ortuary Attendant responsible for the care of deceased persons from transportation at time of death, to the preparation and burial, or cremation of the deceased, depending on state laws.
+ Weekly pay
+ Monday - Friday (rotating weekends and holidays)
+ Day shift
+ MUST have autopsy experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Cares for deceased persons
+ Stores and retrieves bodies from storage
+ Properly admits the body to the hospital
+ Picks up bodies of deceased persons from hospital wards, medical facilities, private homes, etc.
+ Drives mortuary vehicle to pick up deceased persons
+ Identifies deceased persons with correct identification
+ Prepares inventories of personal effects accompanying bodies of deceased
+ Prepares and maintains mortuary records
+ Makes body of deceased presentable for viewing by relatives and friends
+ Releases remains to mortuaries and to Chief Medical Examiner Coroner’s Department
+ Releases body for autopsies and embalming, organ or tissue donation,
+ Sanitizes and cleans mortuary vehicle and equipment
+ Assists in enforcing rulers pertaining to privacy, decorum, and cleanliness in the mortuary
+ Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
+ High school diploma or GED preferred
+ Valid driver’s license in the state of assignment
+ Knowledge of procedure for properly admitting the body to the hospital
+ Prior experience working in a morgue or coroner's office preferred
+ Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
