**JOB SUMMARY** The Autopsy Tech assists pathologists with autopsies as well as the accepting, processing, and releasing of deceased persons. Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation as well as records and documentation. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE** + Prepares instruments and equipment for pathologists performing autopsies. + Prepares decedents for autopsy as well as assists in the performance of autopsies including organ weighing, specimen collection, preservation, and storage. + Lifts and transports decedents within building by hand and/or equipment. + Transports collected specimens to the Laboratory for testing. + Performs sanitation and housekeeping duties in the examining room and morgue. + Maintains logs, blocks, slides, and other materials. + Assist in overseeing activities and education of Residents in the autopsy area. + Operates, troubleshoots, and maintains morgue instrumentation. **KEY SUCCESS FACTORS** + Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures. + Statistical and critical thinking abilities. + Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions. + Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures. + Skill in the use of computers and related software applications. + Knowledge of safety and infection control standards. + Ability to work in a team environment. + Provides training and opportunities for continuing education. + Effective leadership and interpersonal skills. **BENEFITS** Our competitive benefits package includes the following + Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits + 401(k) savings plan with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5% + Tuition Reimbursement + PTO accrual beginning Day 1 Note: Benefits may vary based upon position type and/or level **QUALIFICATIONS** + EDUCATION - H.S.
