Position Qualifications:

Performs and documents Quality Control as assigned.  Ensures that the morgue refrigerator temperatures are taken and then supervisor/director notified of problems. Demonstrate proficiency in operating and troubleshooting equipment. Verifies that remains are tagged, wrapped and stored appropriately, notifying the supervisor of when problems are found. Documents release of remains to funeral homes or medical examiner. Communicates delays with nursing office and pathology about autopsy procedures. Prepares body for post mortem procedure.  Ensures that patient remains are stored appropriately post-mortem to minimize body fluid spills. Ensures that surgical specimens are maintained for appropriate period of time and in an organized manner. Photographs / documents implants per department protocol. Performs biophotography of remains as needed. Utilizes special precautions in high-risk infectious disease cases. Assists in training new residents or staff as assigned. Maintain minimum inventory of reagents / supplies. Cleans / decontaminates workstation and equipment per department infection control protocol Follow department protocol with regards to safe disposal of chemicals and bio-hazardous waste.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent 2 years experience with autopsy assistance, medical examiner or mortuary
