About the role

The expected hourly rate for this position is $ 31.45.

Position Summary:

The Auxiliary Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of facility systems and equipment. Working under the general supervision of the Shift Supervisor, this position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and inspecting various plant systems, including facility and boiler auxiliaries such as fans, pumps, baghouse, and wastewater treatment systems.

Responsibilities:

Operate and monitor assigned plant systems and equipment in accordance with established procedures to ensure safe and efficient performance.Conduct routine inspections of equipment, identifying and reporting malfunctions, irregularities, or potential safety issues.Record operating data accurately and maintain logs as required.Respond to abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations with appropriate corrective actions, either independently or under the direction of the Control Room Operator.Assist with troubleshooting and minor maintenance tasks to support the reliability of plant operations.Provide relief coverage as the Refuse Crane Operator when assigned, including mixing refuse in the pit and maintaining correct refuse-fuel levels in the furnace charging hoppers.Operate heavy industrial machinery (payloader, forklift,), or demonstrated mechanical aptitudeFollow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain a secure and compliant work environment.Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.

Requirements:

Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.Ability to work safely in an industrial environment with exposure to heat, noise, and other physical elements.Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and supervisors effectively.Physical ability to perform manual tasks, including climbing ladders, lifting equipment, and standing for extended periods.Ability to work independently and make critical decisions under pressure during emergency or abnormal situations.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.Prior experience operating heavy industrial machinery or demonstrated mechanical aptitude.Formal technical education or apprenticeship training is strongly preferred.Knowledge of plant operations, safety practices, and mechanical systems.Ability to read, interpret, and follow operational, training, safety, and health-related materials and work rules.
