Grant Thornton is seeking an AV Design and Build Engineer to join the team in Chicago, IL, Downers Grove, IL or New York, NY.
The AV Design and Build Engineer will play a crucial role in the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced audiovisual systems for a wide range of projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in AV systems design, integration, installation, along with excellent communication, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Your day-to-day may include:
+ Collaborate with stakeholders, internal teams, and AV vendors to gather requirements and develop AV system designs that meet project objectives and budgetary approvals.
+ Design and engineer custom audiovisual solutions as required to meet specific client needs, including selecting appropriate AV equipment, creating schematics and diagrams, and developing detailed system specifications.
+ Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for AV equipment and materials, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project schedules.
+ Oversee the installation, configuration, and integration of AV systems, including displays, projectors, audio systems, control interfaces, and network infrastructure.
+ Conduct thorough testing and quality assurance procedures to verify system functionality and performance, and address any issues or deficiencies as needed.
+ Provide training and technical support to end-users and project stakeholders, ensuring a smooth transition of operational use of AV systems.
+ Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in AV design and integration, and contribute to continues improvement initiatives within the organization.
+ Maintain accurate documentation of AV system designs, configurations, and installation processes.
You have the following technical skills and qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
+ Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in AV system design, integration, and installation, preferably in a professional AV integration or consulting environment.
+ Strong proficiency in AV design software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Visio, as well as familiarity with industry standards and protocols (e.g., HDMI, Dante, HDBaseT).
+ Extensive knowledge of audiovisual equipment, including displays, projectors, video processors, audio processors, DSPs, amplifiers, microphones, and control systems (e.g., Q-Sys, Crestron, Extron).
+ Experience with AV system programing and scripting languages (e.g., Q-Sys, Crestron, SIMPL, Extron, GlobalScript) is highly desirable.
+ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
+ Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate resources effectively.
+ Industry certifications such as CTS, CTS-D, or CTS-I are preferred.
+ Ability to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as needed.
The base salary range for this position in the firms Chicago, IL and Downers Grove, IL offices only is between $128,000 and $192,000 annually.
The base salary range for this position in the firms New York, NY office only is between $138,200 and $207,400 annually.
